I like plants. I find forests and greenery calming. Interestingly enough, there have been some studies done that hypothesize that plants have some form of consciousness, some of them ‘sing’ and others react in ways we can’t see to various happenings. Some, like the mimosa, which curls up when touched, react in ways we can see.
Plants can heal us. Some even eat ‘meat’!
I wouldn’t doubt it if they did possess a form of consciousness, though it’s not something everyone agrees on. But I’m pretty sure that the plants, or maybe the earth, just may have a sense of humor!
Orchids are pretty fascinating, as you’ll see below.
It took me a little while to compose this post because I went looking for the specific names of these plants. (Some of these have been featured on other ‘Looks like…’ lists, but I think I found more.) If I found it, the technical name is the images’ file name. If not, the file name is just a description. If a description is not visible, scroll over the picture and one should appear. These are all real, actual-form plants as far as I know. Enjoy!
Due to the amount of pictures I have, this post was split into a 2-part post so it doesn’t overwhelm and crash anyone’s browser, especially for the folks using mobile devices.
Here’s Part Two. Enjoy!

Here’s an impatiens, looking an awful lot like a dancing girl in white.
- Parrot flowers.
- A pair of parrot flowers!

This is a pink moth orchid, which looks inside like a tiny bird.

Here’s a laughing bumblebee orchid.

These giant purple allium look like something you’d find straight out of a Dr. Seuss book!

A ghost orchid.

Cute laughing pansies.

A dancing ballerina orchid.

A flock of butterfly orchids.

Here’s a block bat orchid.

Bleeding hearts.

Yup. Another monkey-faced orchid.

A fly orchid.

These guys look just like jellyfish!

These look like moths to me.

Here’s another insect-resembling variety of orchid. This is actually a flower, not an insect – although it sure looks like an insect!

This flower looks like a large-eared yellow deer.

These looks like tiny white birds cradled in their little flower-shelters.

Some more curious pansies.

Little swaddled flower-babies.

WHEW!
Okay. WARNING:
Mother Nature is not above a little ‘risque’ humor. I’m not going to comment on the following pictures. You can decide for yourself.
- Um, well…okay, I warned you.
- Poppy bud. Nope, I’m not saying a word.
Magictunes Corner:
Here’s “Crocodile” by Underworld. In my big truck, I would run dual subwoofers that I had installed under the couch in the sleeper.
I found the genre of Breakbeat/Mashups/Electronica/Trance to be great rolling music. I used to catch flack from the other ‘good ol’ boy’ drivers who hated my music and made rude comments to me about it (though I didn’t insult their choice to twang along to Hank). Go figure. I guess I never learned, because I still like my rolling music to this day. One of my favorite stations on satellite radio was called Sirius Boombox 34, which no longer exists. They used to play this tune.
