I like plants. I find forests and greenery calming. Interestingly enough, there have been some studies done that hypothesize that plants have some form of consciousness, some of them ‘sing’ and others react in ways we can’t see to various happenings. Some, like the mimosa, (‘the sensitive plant’ – hey, like me!) which curls up when touched, react in ways we can see.
Plants can heal us. Some even eat ‘meat’!
I wouldn’t doubt it if they did possess a form of consciousness, though it’s not something everyone agrees on. But I’m pretty sure that the plants, and maybe the earth, just may possess a sense of humor! Maybe they want to see if we’re paying attention.
Orchids are pretty fascinating, as you’ll see below.
It took me a little while to compose this post because I went looking for the specific names of these plants. (Some of these have been featured on other ‘Looks like…’ lists, but I think I found more.) If I found it, the technical name is the images’ file name. If not, the file name is just a description. If a description is not visible, scroll over the picture and one should appear. These are all real, actual-form plants as far as I know. Enjoy!
Due to the amount of pictures I have, I’m gonna split this into a 2-part post so it doesn’t overwhelm and crash anyone’s browser, especially for the folks using mobile devices.
Here’s Part One. Enjoy!
Stay tuned for Part Two!
Magictunes Corner:
Miami Horror is kind of a progressive-house/modern-day-disco-sound band from Australia. According to one of the members, the group picked the name Miami Horror for the sheer impact of it, with some members not liking the name very much at first. (No, they really don’t have much to do with either Miami or Horror!)
This tune, I Look To You, features Kimbra, a New Zealand recording artist most known for being the female vocalist on Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know, though she’s also a pretty good vocalist in her own right.
