A scant few days ago we hit 70 degrees in places.
Yesterday it was sunny and in the 50s.
Ahh, but now the unwanted strains of someone screeching “Let It Go” echo thought my head because it’s 21 degrees and the highway is closed for a 20 mile stretch due to ice accumulation from…freezing rain.
Up and down, up and down. The tweeting birds, formerly happily fluffing themselves in the sunshine, have hunched over in icy despair and resignation.
The deer glare balefully out from under frosty eyelashes and carefully pick their way across the icy fields.
I glare balefully out from under frosty eyelashes and carefully pick my way across the icy driveway, executing a triple lutz as I clutch at Hhrbie for support. I feel my neighbors mentally holding up scorecards.
The fields are icy. Even the gravel is icy, I know because I went out to check for myself and thus cancelled the afternoon’s planned activities. Trying to get back into the house required breaking a coating of ice from the door handle so the button would depress.
You just never know what it will do here, we get a little bit of everything!
