My workplace stress fix?
Well, I quit. (You need to imagine Johnny Paycheck warbling in the background to add to the atmosphere.)
Yup.
Am I crazy? (Add in some Patsy Cline right around here also.) Yeah probably, if you measure me by everybody else’s yardstick. I said in a previous related post that things would be a journey in progress, and so they are. I journeyed out the door! (And I haven’t missed it for a moment, either.) I was kind of hoping to hold out there longer, but some things made that impossible; namely, my sanity level.
And I will be journeying to Montana in several weeks to work security for Glacier National Park. Whee!
So Ms. Vandura, Mr. Scamp, Maggie (meow) and myself will be madly packing and getting the rig set up for this particular adventure. It should be interesting. I’ve traded forms of insanity! Right now, I don’t even have a proper loaded 2″ receiver for the van’s hitch (the Scamp takes a 1 & 7/8″ ball and my 2″ receiver, courtesy of Sleazy Jeff, has a 2″ ball mount and there’s no way in hell we’re trying to wrestle that off) and I have no faint clue if all the trailer plug wiring on Ms. Vandura is even all functional yet. I have to get an adapter in before I can test it. I could end up on my back in the crushed rock driveway clutching a wire stripper, with plastic wire coating jammed between my teeth, cursing wildly.
So as I’m flung into full-time RVing by the seat of my pants, this should be an adventure indeed. I used to live in a big-rig 24/7 for years, Miss Maggie and I will re-adapt to that aspect just fine and I’m pretty good at “creative space manipulation.” It’s all the little details I’m trying to organize and work out.
This time, I unfortunately won’t have a TriPac (a diesel generator system). I can’t swing solar quite yet, or even the teeny-little generator I’m eyeballing.
I will have hook ups, but only for several months so I need to come up with good dual-purpose solutions to things. Like heat and refrigeration. For example, I have a little space heater. But it works best when it’s plugged into a live outlet, otherwise it just sits there and looks warm. I would like to grab a Mr. Buddy at some point (with a CO detector). That would be optimal with a 2nd 20lb propane tank. I have one tank on the Scamp right now, I do have a 2nd tank here that I could add. To switch Mr. Scamp to dual tanks, I’ll need a new tank mounting plate and some way to get it on the tongue. It’s probably not gonna happen before I leave, but never say never.
Right now I’m trying to shake out of the OMG Overwhelmed! phase and assess what I have to work with for both resources and space. A work in progress!
